# Pricing FAQs

If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, check out our full knowledge base or get in touch with support via chat and we’ll be happy to help.

For the plans and pricing available, please visit [Plans and Pricing](https://spreo.io/pricing) or read the [Plans Overview](/plans/plans-overview.md). If you're on an older plan, see [Legacy Plans](/plans/legacy-plans.md).

<details>

<summary>Can I use Spreo for free?</summary>

Yes, in two ways:

* **Lite** is a free, limited version of Spreo. You get your own board and can work live with two other people, with no sign-in.
* **The free trial.** When you sign up, you get a 15-day free trial of the Team plan. No card needed.

When your trial ends, your account is paused. Nothing is deleted and your boards stay visible, read-only. Upgrade whenever you're ready, or ask us to extend your trial.

<details>

<summary>Which plan is right for me?</summary>

* **Team** is for your own team. You either license the people you work with as Collaborators, or open your boards so they can join as visitors.
* **Consultant** is for client work. You pay a fixed price per consultant and invite clients as guests, so your boards stay secure.
* **Enterprise** is for organizations with 100+ users, or that need SLAs, custom contracts or self-hosting.

See the [Plans Overview](/plans/plans-overview.md) for what each plan includes.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I'm on Starter, Business or another older plan. What happens?</summary>

Nothing changes. Your plan and price stay as they are. See [Legacy Plans](/plans/legacy-plans.md) for the details of your plan. Some plan names have been used more than once, so check the price there to find yours. If you'd like to move to the new plans or have questions, chat with us or email <support@spreo.io>.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is a member?</summary>

A member is someone who has signed up and joined your organization. Members can access the team dashboard and the boards in their teams.

* On the **Team** and **Enterprise** plans, each member is licensed as an Editor or a Collaborator. See [Roles and Licenses](/plans/roles-and-licenses.md).
* On **legacy plans**, each member needs a license and has full access to the team dashboard and all functionality.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is a guest?</summary>

Guests are people from outside your organization that you invite to a board, such as clients, partners and external contractors. They do not need a license, can only access the boards shared with them, and cannot see your team space. Depending on your organization's settings, guests can join with a temporary profile or sign in.

How many guests you can have depends on your plan:

* **Consultant:** unlimited guests
* **Enterprise:** 20 guests per board
* **Legacy plans:** every legacy plan except Starter includes guests. For example, the legacy Business plan at $6 to $8 per member allows 2 guests per board. See [Legacy Plans](/plans/legacy-plans.md) for your plan's allowance.

The **Team** plan uses visitors instead: anyone can join an open board for free, with no sign-in.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is the difference between members and guests?</summary>

Members are registered users of your organization. They can access the teams and boards they belong to, and depending on their role can create and manage boards, host meetings, use meeting controls, create custom templates and edit board layouts.

A guest only takes part on the boards they have been invited to.

Members need a license, while guests do not affect billing.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I collaborate with people outside my team?</summary>

Yes. How depends on your plan:

* **Team:** set a board to Open and share its link. People join as visitors, for free and in any number, with no sign-in. You can't invite guests by email on the Team plan. Email invites are for adding Editors and Collaborators.
* **Enterprise and Consultant:** invite people as guests, so your boards can stay secure.
* **Legacy plans:** every legacy plan except Starter can invite guests. The legacy Business plan at $6 to $8 per member allows 2 guests per board, and Enterprise allows 20. The legacy Starter plan at $4 to $5 per member includes free read-only board viewers. See [Legacy Plans](/plans/legacy-plans.md) for other older plans.

See [Share your board](/boards/share-your-board.md) for how to share a board link or send an invite.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How many teams and folders do I get?</summary>

* **Team and Enterprise:** unlimited private teams.
* **Legacy Starter:** one team.
* **Legacy Business and Enterprise:** unlimited private teams.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Who needs which role on the Team plan?</summary>

* **Editor:** you create boards, run sessions and host workshops. Usually facilitators, Scrum Masters, team leads and coaches.
* **Collaborator:** you're on the team and take part every week. You sign in, see your team's boards without being invited, use integrations, and get assigned actions.
* **Visitor:** you're joining one session, such as a stakeholder at a review, a client in a workshop or a department at an all-hands. You click the link and you're in. A board must be open for you to join it.

See [Roles and Licenses](/plans/roles-and-licenses.md) for more detail.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I just buy one Editor license?</summary>

Yes. One Editor can create boards, run sessions and invite anyone to an open board as a visitor, free and in any number. Add Collaborators to give people access to team boards automatically, use integrations, and be assigned actions.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How many licenses of each do I need?</summary>

One Editor for each person who creates boards or hosts sessions. One Collaborator for each regular team member. Everyone else can join open boards as a visitor.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What's the difference between a Collaborator and a visitor?</summary>

Collaborators sign in with their own identity (including SSO), see their team's boards automatically, can use integrations, and can be assigned actions. Visitors can only join open boards, take part in that session, and don't have an account.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I invite visitors to a board?</summary>

Set the board to **Open** in its [sharing settings](/boards/share-your-board.md) and share its link. People join in their browser with no account and no sign-in. Visitors can't be invited by email.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Are open boards secure?</summary>

Anyone with the link to an open board can join. Boards are secure by default, so only open the ones you're happy to share. For client work that needs secure boards, look at the Consultant or Enterprise plans, where you invite clients as guests.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I change someone's role later?</summary>

Yes. On the Team plan you can change a person's role at any time, as long as there are seats available. Adding seats updates your bill pro-rata.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How can I pay?</summary>

By card, in your local currency. Invoices are available on request in most major currencies, with no minimum. VAT is added on top of listed prices. See [Billing & Subscription](/management/billing-and-subscription.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do you offer nonprofit, charity or education discounts?</summary>

Yes. Nonprofits, charities and education get 50% off any plan. Chat with us to set it up.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How can I upgrade?</summary>

You can start a subscription with a payment card from Billing in the Admin menu. Contact us if you'd like to pay by invoice.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I change my plan?</summary>

You can increase or decrease your seats at any time and your next bill will update pro-rata. New members cannot join once every seat is in use, so add seats first.

Annual plans have a 30-day refund or plan adjustment period.

**Any other changes**

Please contact us if you want to change your plan type or billing period.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I cancel my plan?</summary>

Yes you can cancel your plan at any point, which will stop your plan from renewing. Your team space will continue on the paid plan until the end of the current billing period.

Annual plans can cancel with a full refund within the first 30 days.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I self-host Spreo?</summary>

Yes. Spreo can be self-hosted as a private cloud deployment in your own environment, on your own infrastructure, wherever you choose to put it. It isn't open source: a self-hosted deployment is the same Spreo, deployed for your organization. Self-hosting is available on the Enterprise plan. Talk to us about your requirements at <sales@spreo.io>.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I talk to someone?</summary>

Yes. Use the live support chat (it goes straight to a co-founder), or email us at <sales@spreo.io> with your question, name, email, role and organization.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spreo.io/help/frequently-asked-questions/pricing.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
